Update:
This week was Thanksgiving break, so I did not go workout. Although I was not doing nothing. I had volleyball practice on Wednesday and Sunday. Wednesday November, 22nd On Wednesday the 15u team and us the 16u had a joined practice. The way we start practice is run 3 laps and stretch. Then we started off with the butterfly drill. Groups on each end of the net and on each side you have a passer and a hitter. The hitter hits across the net and the passer passes to target. We did this for about 10 minutes. Then we started hitting lines working on spots to swing for. We also did some spot serving. Spot serving is when you are serving to the other side and find a position your coach wants you to serve too. After this we all played queen of the court for the rest of practice because with Thanksgiving being the next day we all didn't have a full team. Queen of the court is where you have 4 people on each side of the net. Three passers and a target and you rally back and fourth and if you are on the loosing side and win the point you get to go to the winning side. And the next set of people come on. Sunday November, 26th On Sunday we started off with just passing with a partner to get warmed up then we started our 3 laps and stretching. After this we started off with the butterfly drill again. Then we did 4 people on the court on each side. The 15's and 16's against each other to work on our passing. We had to get 15 good passes to target on each side before we could change drills. After we did this we did some defense drills. We had 3 people on one side of the net ready to pass. And on the other side hitters were ready to hit the ball that the setter set. And the people passing had to move their feet to get to the ball because you had no idea where the ball was going. The next game we played was with a partner. We had two people on each side and you and that person had to get the ball over the net in 3 or less passes, but the goal was to get a bump, set and hit with your partner. After the ball went over the net you and your partner had to sprint to the other side to get into the line, and another group got on in your place. After we played this game we played queen of the court for the rest of practice. During this practice I got to work on my hitting and aiming on spots to hit when hitting. I worked on spot serving and actually started to hit the spots I aimed for which is really good. I started to try to improve my passing skills. I tried to get my feet planted before I passes so I don't jump when passing. When your feet are planted and pointed to your target it helps the whole team in the long run. |
