Monday November 12th
On my day off I got up at 6:30 and was in the gym by 7:00 a.m. It was just me in the gym so I got a lot of attention and had to work really hard. The first thing I had to do was 250 jump ropes. The second thing was jog down and back 5 times. After I jogged down and back 5 times I had some more activities waiting for me. I had to do 20 ball rotation slams, 15 lightsabers on each arm and 5 pushups with my feet on the bench. I had to do this 5 times. Adding it all up it is 100 ball rotation slams, 75 lightsabers per arm and 25 pushups. After this I had to do 5 front squats with the weight of 45 lbs, 20 kettlebell swings and 20 kettlebell push press. The kettlebell I had was 20 lbs. I had to do each of these 6 times with the end amount of 30 front squats, 120 kettlebell swings and 120 kettlebell push press. After I got done with these sets my last one was coming up. I had to play pushes with a 45 lb plate, 5 box jumps and 25 weighted sit ups with a 10 lb plate. I had to do each of these for 5 rounds. The box jumps are one of my favorites because it helps me improve how high I jump in my approach. An approach is a really big part in volleyball when hitting. When you jump higher in volleyball the harder it is for the other person to block your hit. When you get up and fully swing you can absolutely destroy the ball in a good way. Wednesday November 15th (The First Practice) Tonight we had our official first practice as a team. The drills were kind of boring. We worked on the basics of everything which can mentally drain you. We started off with 3 laps around the gym then we started stretching. We did the basics and started with just some easy passing. Then we progressively built up to the stronger stuff such as hitting and having people hit at us. Thursday November 16th We started out the day with yoga. Yoga not as easy as you would think it would be. We did some weird stretches that I don't even know how to describe, but they hurt. After we got done with yoga we started working on our abs. We did 20 bicycle crunches on each leg, 20 legs lifts and 20 feet to the sky. Leg lifts are when you lay on your back and have both of your legs out straight and about 3 inches off the ground and you lift both of them up at to a 90 degree angle. Feet to the sky is you are laying on your back with your feet straight up in the air, you then push the bottom of your feet to the sky and doing this is requires your to lift your butt a little off the ground to strengthen your core muscles. We had to do 3 rounds of each of these so 60 bicycle runs (each leg), 60 leg lifts and 60 feet to the sky. The next activity we had to do was 10 pull ups, 10 squats and 10 push ups. We did this for 5 rounds. In total we had 50 pull ups, 50 push ups and 50 squats. The next set of things we had to do was hard for me. It started with a pusher with 45 pounds one each side. We had to push it down and back with a total of 95 lb in weights but I am not sure about the pusher. Then after that we had to run out to the fence and back in and do it all again. We did this for 4 rounds. After the 4 rounds we started on our last activity. We had 10 lb weights in each hand. We then had 10 rounds of lifting them in various ways. |
